Our Purpose

As a group of volunteer parents from Toronto, Families for Families.ca offers a secure place for families to discuss their experiences and offer positive solutions to decision-makers, so that our loved ones with developmental disabilities can have the best quality of life possible both now and in the future.

Our community welcomes all those supporting loved ones with developmental disabilities across Toronto. As families from diverse backgrounds and experiences, we are able to join together to create positive change because of our varied knowledge and direct experience of developmental disabilities.

Our 5 Guiding Principles

1. We are a non-partisan group of volunteer parents from Toronto who promote solutions to any and all decision-makers and stakeholders who can effect positive change for people with developmental disabilities.

2. We are a secure and inclusive environment which allows families to speak in a united voice on issues concerning developmental disabilities in Toronto. We welcome families with loved ones with developmental disabilities to participate in the discussion to find positive solutions.

3. Our dedication to those in our lives with developmental disabilities is what drives our unification and our desire to share their individual stories and how their needs can best be met.

4. We utilize our diverse lived experiences, knowledge, and optimism to advocate that all those with developmental disabilities receive the best care possible now and into the future.

5. We are an open community which fosters positivity and respect. We do not support negative attacks on any individual or group, as they do not stimulate solutions and positive change.
