At three and a half months old, Charlie was taken to our local emergency room, rushed to McMaster and then transported to SickKids before being diagnosed with Idiopathic Dilated Cardiomyopathy. Two weeks later, Charlie was placed on a mechanical device called a Berlin Heart and was placed on the list for a heart transplant. The Berlin Heart kept him as healthy as possible, and he continued to grow and thrive until his heart transplant 7 months later. 

Charlie is now 3 years old, and Starlight has been an amazing resource in supporting our family, allowing us to have some wonderful experiences together.  We would like to be able to give back as much as possible, so that other families are able to have the same amazing experiences that we’ve been given.
